Expert Witness Code of Ethics
Professionalism is the cornerstone of the services provided by me through Beverage Law Institute, Inc. The following are statements of ethical standards that will be adhered to during my relationship with you and your firm. This relationship can be a significant key in the development of the case for your client.
- I will accept expert witness testimony assignments only in cases for which I have specific expertise relevant to the issues of the litigation.
- I will accept expert witness cases only when I am sure that I will have the necessary time and ability to professionally develop my involvement to the highest possible standard of service.
- If referral is made to an expert witness whose background is unfamiliar or not known to me, you and your firm will be so advised.
- All discussions and/or materials regarding the case for which I have been retained will be transmitted only to you or a member of your staff. This, of course, does not include testimony during deposition or trial; however, it does include directions from the court.
- Written and oral presentations are vital to effective performance from an expert witness particularly in litigation. I will maintain the highest possible expertise in these areas to ensure professional service.
- The alcoholic beverage industry is one which is constantly undergoing changes as a result of pressures applied by federal and state legislation as well as political interest groups. I will maintain my current professional competency and meticulously research relevant elements of each case.
- I will charge for services only those fees designated in the official fee schedule at the time your firm retains.
